Who is Mr. Maple

Welcome to Mr. Maple

Mr. Maple is a bridge between the rugged forests of Canada and the refined tables of Japan. Founded by a resident of both Nakusp, British Columbia, Canada and Takaharu-cho, Miyazaki, Japan.

We understand that in Japan, a gift is more than an object—it is a gesture of respect, that's why we source Canada’s 'Liquid Gold' specifically for those who appreciate the purity and taste of nature as well as the art of the gift. We are thrilled to be launching our products soon. We are working hard  to bring you amazing, gift oriented, Pure Canadian Maple Syrup products that will respectfully satisfy cultural gift giving practices in the Japanese market while also satisfying your taste buds and creating golden memories.

A Message from our Founder

My name is Jeff Fraser, and I am the founder and curator of Mr. Maple Pure Canadian Maple Syrup products. "I founded Mr. Maple to share the true spirit of my Canadian home with my friends and neighbours in Japan. From Nakusp to Takaharu, quality is my personal promise to you" .

I love Japan, it's people and it's culture of thoughtful gift giving. I am lucky to have a home in Takaharu cho, Japan and a home in Nakusp, British Columbia, Canada. It has allowed me to understand and appreciate the Japanese markets need for high quality Canadian Maple Syrup as well as unique and interesting gift products that can be appreciated through a person's taste buds while creating lasting memories.

Growing up in northern Ontario, in the mixed forests along the shoreline of Lake Superior meant that every year in early spring, us kids could be found running through the forests and along side the tractor and wagon while gathering buckets of maple sap for our neighbour, Poppy Simpson. It would then be boiled over an open flame in a big old cast iron cauldron to produce that amazing, amber syrup known as maple syrup. The reward was worth all the effort and it is a product worth sharing with the world. Enjoy!

The Tradition Behind Our Syrup

Every bottle of Mr. Maple begins on a family-owned farm in rural Ontario, where maple syrup has been produced by generations of the same family.

The farm’s maple-making tradition began in the late nineteenth century. In those early years, sap was collected using spiles and pails before being slowly boiled into rich amber syrup. Its first dedicated maple evaporator was installed in 1927, beginning nearly a century of continual refinement.

Through each generation, traditional knowledge has been passed down while equipment and food-safety practices have evolved. Today, the syrup is produced and bottled in a federally inspected Canadian facility, combining generations of experience with modern standards of quality and care.

Mr. Maple selected this producer for more than its Canadian origins. We chose it for its exceptional taste, dependable quality and authentic connection to Canada’s maple-making tradition.

Canadian Tradition, Japanese Craftsmanship

The pure maple syrup and its distinctive maple-leaf bottle begin their journey in Canada. Almost everything that transforms them into the finished Mr. Maple gift experience happens in Japan.

Our gift bags, printed materials, decorative packaging, accessories and final presentation are sourced, produced or completed through Japanese businesses. The products are then assembled and prepared for sale in Japan.

This means that purchasing Mr. Maple supports more than a Canadian maple-producing family. It also supports Japanese printers, packaging suppliers, manufacturers, logistics providers, retailers and local partners.

We believe the best international products should create value on both sides of the journey. Canada provides the authentic maple syrup and generations of maple-making knowledge. Japan contributes its remarkable craftsmanship, attention to detail and culture of thoughtful gift-giving.

Every Mr. Maple gift is therefore a genuine collaboration between Canada and Japan—Canadian in origin, thoughtfully completed in Japan.

Get Ready for Mr. Maple

We have an amazing team of talented individuals in Canada as well as in Japan working hard to bring Mr. Maple's high quality products to you. Like our cute little friend Maple kun, a happy little forest dweller who loves Pure Canadain Maple Syrup. Look for him to be on or around our products. He's always happy to help spread the joy that our products will bring to Japan.

Our Vision

Our journey begins in the vast forests of Canada, but our hope is that its future will be firmly planted in Miyazaki.

While we currently curate the finest maple syrup selections from our a Canadian family producer with generations of maple-making experience in Canada, we are building toward a future where the final steps of the Mr. Maple product journey happen right here in our prefecture.

Our goal is to establish a dedicated bottling and fulfilment centre within the Kobayashi region of Kyushu, Japan. By bringing the Pure Canadian Maple Syrup, directly to Miyazaki, we can:

  • Blend Two Worlds: Combine the world's best maple syrup with the craftsmanship and attention to detail that Miyazaki is famous for.
  • Local Culinary Specialities, We will be able to blend  our pure, natural product with flavours that the people of Kyushu love.
  • Local Pride: Ensure that every bottle purchased across Japan, as a gift or consumable, carries the spirit of our local community—from the labelling to the final gift-wrap.
  • A Sustainable Home: Create a permanent base of operations that contributes to the local economy of our home in the Takaharu cho area and the wider Miyazaki prefecture, Kyushu region.
